Each film coated tablet contains:
Tranexamic Acid IP 250 mg

This drug belongs to the anti-fibrinolytic agent.It works by inhibiting blood clotting. It is used to treat heavy bleeding occurs during the periods in women.Tranexamic acid slows the breakdown of blood clots and prevent the prolong bleeding.It reduces the need of replacement therapy during tooth extraction.

Indications

• Used to treat nose bleeding
• In heavy periods
• Hereditary angioedema
• Reduces bleeding in surgery and trauma

Mechanism of Action

Tranexamic acid inhibits the activation of plasminogen and prevents the conversion of plasminogen to plasmin, plasmin causes degradation of fibrin clots.
It reduces the plasmin formation and factor V and VIII

Pharmacokinetics

Absorption- It absorbs orally
Protein Binding- It is mainly bound to albumin
Metabolism- It is metabolized in small amount
Excretion- It is excreted via urine

Side Effects

• Nausea
• Diarrhoea
• Stomach- ache
• Difficulty in breathing
• Swelling

Contraindication

Contraindicated in people with known hypersensitivity

• Birth control pills
• Oestrogens
